CRAFTING WHEN WE CAN CHALLENGE #28

Don't they just look yummy!  Welcome to another challenge here at

Today we are sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs.

Fresh Brewed Designs

Our challenge this fortnight is one of my favorite challenges:  a sketch.

I just love using a sketch.  It makes things so easy.  And you don't have to rely on your own imagination (that quite frankly can run out of ideas).

My niece Cara wanted to do this to.  Here is her card.

You can find her post here if you want to stop by and give her some love.  I'm very proud of her crafting.  She is learning to use all the things I have (just has a bit of trouble lining things up on her cards).  She's only 8 but is doing so well.

Both the image and the sentiment come from Freshly Brewed Designs.  I colored the image with Whisper Strokes, Stampin' Up and Copic markers.  The sentiment was distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  Both were popped up on 3D dimensionals.  The designer papers used are both from Create With TLC.  Paulette has loads of great stuff over there.  The other papers come from The Paper Co., Core 'dinations and my stash.  I used a die cut from Spellbinders and ribbon from C&G.

Head on over to Crafting When We Can and see all the other fabulous creations the rest of our team has made.

I have entered the following challenges:

Bearly Mine #54 - Add a sentiment
Creative Craft - Anything goes
Scrap-Creations - Food
Top Tip Tuesday #86 - Good with food
Fab 'n' Funky #140 - Starts with "F" (fruit)
Simon Says - Anything goes
DYSU #91 - Scallops
Fresh Brewed - Apples
My Sheri Crafts #95 - Apples or pumpkins
Party Time Tuesday #87 - Anything goes

Thanks for visiting today.  Have a great day!

HUNGER GAMES CHRISTMAS

Well here is my first ever Criss Cross Card.  How did I do?

Here's the shot of the insert.

My first attempt was a real mess.  I glued the wrong sides together and then could not insert the inside page.  Oh well you live you learn.  I think it turned out pretty good.

These images are Katniss and Effie from the Hunger Games movie.  They were designed by the lovely and talented Lindsay over at Sassy Studio Designs.  They are fabulous images. I colored them with Whisper Strokes, Stampin' Up and Copic markers.  As my watercolor markers dry out I am replacing them with Copics.  I really like the way they look.  I also did a paper piecing for Katniss' dress.  I found a picture of fire on line and used it for her dress.  After all she is the girl on fire.

These papers come from Bearly Mine, Create with TLC, DBS Digi Scraps, Core 'dinations and Bazzill.  The die cut is Spellbinders and the punch is Martha Stewart as well as the flowers.  The ribbon comes from Darice.

I made the sentiments myself.  My daughter didn't get it so I thought I would explain.  In the movie Effie uses those exact words.  I thought she could say them in reference to getting lots of gifts for Christmas.  It might only make sense in my head but it wouldn't be the first time things only made sense there.  Alicia (daughter) is constantly telling me I'm strange or weird but she wouldn't have me any other way.  I think she is just trying to soften the blow.

If you haven't read the books you should.  I felt her pain and cried for her since she wouldn't cry. I won't give away anything else if you don't know the story.

Here are the challenges I am entering:

Fashionista #7 - Anything goes Christmas
Bearly Mine #54 - Add a sentiment
Fab 'n' Funky #140 - Starts with an "F" (fire)
Penny's Paper #95 - More than 1 fold
Simon Says - Anything goes
DYSU #91 - Scallops
Natalie and Amy - Anything goes
Heck of a Challenge - Anything goes
Stamp and Create - Anything goes

Hope you enjoyed your visit.  Have a great day!

A SASSY PRESENT

Sassy Studio Designs is having a Design Team call.  As some of you know the fabulously talented Rebecca (who is also my sister) is on that team.  I thought it would be nice to be on the team with her.

For the audition we are asked to use this image and make a card.  Ooh la la!  What an image!  Lindsay creates the most beautiful images.  SSD has long been a favorite of mine.  Most of my cards are created with her images.

I colored her with Whisper Stroke and Copic markers.  Her hair is shined up with some Glossy Accents.  The papers come from Papercraft Inspirations, The Paper Co. and my stash.  The ribbon is from Pure Color.  I added the poinsettia from Martha Stewart and pearls from The Queen & Co.  The sentiment is something I made on Word.

Wish me good luck everyone!

HAPPY FALL

Happy Fall everyone!  Here's a little something to brighten your day.  I just love this time of year.  The leaves are such beautiful colors and the air is so crisp and cool.  I don't care much for summer so by the end I am really looking forward to a cool breezy day.

The image I am using today comes from Sassy Studio Designs.  Every Friday they have a freebie to offer on Paper Craft Planet.  I really love the images Lindsay comes up with.  This one is called Fall Fun.  I colored her with Whisper Strokes and Copic markers then cut her out with a Stampin' Up die cut and put a little Tim Holtz distress ink to create the blue sky look.  I also added a little Glossy Accents to her hair to shine it up a bit.

I used DP from Imaginisce.  The others are The Paper Co., Core 'dinations and my stash.  The ribbon is from Darice and the brad is from Bo Bunny.  I had the leaves in my stash for a while and I have no idea where they came from.  The orange ribbon is from Darice.  Finally the sentiment comes from Create With TLC.  Paulette comes up with so many wonderful sentiments.

My oldest daughter is attending the University of North Carolina.  It is so far away and I rarely get to see her.  She will graduate this December but has decided to stay in North Carolina.  I really miss her.  I made this with her in mind.  Hopefully it will brighten her day.

I am entering the following challenges:

CHRISTMAS SLEDDING

I am really trying this year to get my Christmas cards done early.  Last year I was still making cards at the last minute.  Hopefully that won't be the case this year.  So here we go again with another Christmas card.

I wanted to make a fun card.  Something I might be able to give to one of my nieces or my kids.  I recently won this image over at Inky Impressions.  I love their images.  I colored her with Whisper Strokes, Copics and Stampin' Up markers.  I added some Stickles by Ranger and some Liquid Applique on her hat, collar and boots for the fuzzy look.  I also used a white gel pen.  I popped her up with some 3D dimensionals.

This design is a sketch from Christmas Challenges.  I usually don't do 5x5 cards but this needed the size.  I used patterned paper from Bearly Mine and Papercraft Inspirations.  The sentiment also comes from Papercraft Inspirations.  The remaining papers are Bazzill, Core 'dinations and some generic.  The wreath is a new one I have from Disney.  It has a die cut and then an embossing folder for the design.  The other embossing pattern is from Darice.  I used it on the die cut from Stampin' Up.  I used some Tim Holtz Distress Ink to pop up the design.  The ribbon I used comes from C&G.  The pearls are from Queen & Co. and the flowers from Martha Stewart.  Finally the little teddy bear hanging from the wreath is a charm from Inky Impressions.

These are the challenges that I am entering:

Craft Your Passion #128 - Bingo (bling, ribbon, distress)
Creative Inspirations #181 - Christmas in September
Simon Says - Embossing
Inky Impressions - For a child
Avadares #3 - Make it sparkle
Bunny Zoe's #28 - Distressing
Christmas Crafting #14 - Traditional Christmas colors
Natalie and Amy - Anything goes

I hope you have enjoyed your visit.  Have a fabulous day!

IT'S A BIRTHDAY CHALLENGE AND BLOG HOP

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

It's a birthday celebration!!!  Crafting When We Can is having their 1 year birthday challenge and blog hop. You should have come here from the lovely and talented Poppet.  Isn't she terrific! If you have started here no worries.  Hop on over to  Crafting When We Can and start from there.

For this challenge you must enter a birthday card with a "1" in it ie 1, 16, 21 etc.
We have several sponsors and a blog hop!

Here are the cards I have made

This is my princess card.  The images are from one of my fave companies:

I colored them with Whisper Strokes, Copic and Stampin' Up markers.  I added some Stickles from Ranger to sparkle them up. After all every princess should sparkle.  I also added some Glossy Accents to Snow White's hair to give it a shiny black look.

I decided to make a Center Step Card to display these gorgeous Disney images.  I got the idea from one of my favorite Sassy Designers: Regan.  She did a gorgeous bride step card not to long ago.

The inside sentiment was a free one from Create with TLC just this past week.  I saw it and thought it was perfect for this card.  The front was done by me on Word.

The papers come from Core 'dinations, Bearly Mine, Papercraft Inspirations and some generic. The ribbon is Darice. I used pearls from The Queen & Co. and flowers from Petaloo.

Here is my second card.  It was made for a very special little boy:

A nephew of mine named Kaleb.

He has just turned one.  How perfect is this image from:

I colored the planes with Copic and Whisper Strokes markers.  I added some Glossy Accents to the cockpit for the glass look.

This is another inspired card.  I recently saw this Tri-fold card done by another of my favorite Sassy ladies - Kim.  I thought it was lovely and wanted to incorporate it into a card for Kaleb.  My all time favorite designer is also from Sassy.  She reminded me she also did this fold and I had forgotten.  She is none other than Rebecca.  (Just because she is my sister has nothing to do with her being my favorite.) Check out her card here

All of these sentiments also come from Create with TLC.  I must say I get most of my sentiments from her.  The papers I used are from Reminisce and my stash.  All the stars are stickers from Nicole.

Here is a list of our fabulous sponsors:

The winner will receive 5 images from The Digi Garden. Our 2nd place will receive 3 images of their choice from Dilly Beans Digi Stamps. Our 3rd Place will receive 2 images from
Saturated Canary.

Follow the hop through all of the DT's blogs and then comment on the Crafting When We Can blog to say you've done it!  THREE commenters will be chosen at random (from a random DT blog) and they will win one of the prizes offered by the sponsors below.

Sassy Studio Designs, Kenny K and Dude Time Doodles

These are all such wonderful companies. Stop over and check them out.

Now on to the really fun part.  You will continue on your hop by heading over to the fabulously talented Crafting Vicky.  She has some gorgeous creations for you to look at.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Hi Everyone!  I have a new card for you today to help spread the word for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Link up for Pink has some candy to help spread the word.  I have a previous post on this but thought it deserved more than just one post.  Here is the candy you could win:

Breast cancer affects just about everyone, whether you have it or know someone who suffers from it we can all agree that a cure is needed.  Please consider helping out with this.

Thanks for supporting this cause.

The design paper and both sentiments are freebies from Link Up For Pink.  The other papers are from The Paper Co. and my stash.  The ribbon comes from a birthday present I recieved from my sister last year.  She wrapped it around the box for me to use on my cards.  I think this is the perfect card for it.  The sketch I used is from Lawnscaping.

I liked the simplicity of this sketch.  Sometimes a little just says a whole lot.

In my thoughts

Hi All!  Well here I am again.  I have something different for you today.  With this card I have left my comfort zone behind me and ventured out.  Simon Says is having a huge challenge this week along with a blog hop.  The challenge is "Read all about it".  As you can see there are words everywhere.

I took white card stock and stamped with the butterflies and words.  This is in French so I have no idea what it says.  Both word stamps are from Achiever's but I have no idea which company they come from.  I got them in a class and they were already separated from the packaging.   Anyway, after I stamped the paper I used some Tim Holtz distress ink to age the paper and did some distressing on the sides.

The image comes from Beary Wishes.  I colored with Whisper Strokes markers and then used some of the distress ink here as well.  I was so amazed at the change in the irises.  I think they look great.  I fussy cut the flowers and popped them up on 3D foam.  The sentiment is Create with TLC.  I so love their sentiments.

The papers I used are from Bazzill and just some generic white and black card stock.  The die cut is from Stampin' Up and the punch is EK Success.

I have entered into the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Read all about it
Crafty Cardmakers #74 - Winged things
Tammy's Scrapin' Corner #26 - Anything with wings
Vintage Elusions #5 - Distressing
Deep Ocean #33 - Things with wings
Papertake Weekly - Anything goes
Charisma Cardz #34 - No embellishments
Craft Your Passion #126 - Floral images

I hope you have enjoyed your visit.  Have a beautiful day.

Crafting When We Can Challenge #26

Can you believe two weeks have gone by already.  Here we are starting another challenge at

We are sponsored by

Crafty Ribbons

Our challenge this fortnight is to use 1 large image, 2 sentiments (same or different) and 3 colors.  First, my image comes from Saturated Canary.  She has so many beautiful images.  The colors I chose are red, blue and green.  I wanted to make her look like she is going to a Christmas ball so it had to be a Christmas card.

I colored her with Whisper Strokes, Stampin' Up and Copic markers.  You have to sparkle and shine when you are at a ball so I added some Stickles by Ranger and some Glossy Accents to her hair and dress.  The pearls are Recollections.  Her gloves are done with a white gel pen.  I'm not very good at coloring white so I am still using a gel pen.

The sketch I chose is from Christmas Challenges.  The papers I used are Bazzill, Core 'dinations, Hot off the Press, Paper Inspirations and A and T Digital Design Papers.  I have ribbon from Offray and the sentiments I did myself.

Please go check out all the other fabulous cards from my Crafting Sisters at Crafting When We Can.

I am entering the following challenges:

Saturated Canary #25 - Dotty
Scrapalicious - Anything goes
Sassy Studio Designs #140 - Christmas
Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything goes
Natalie and Amy - Anything goes
Krafty Girls - Anything goes
Penny's Paper-Crafty #91 - Sparkle and Shine

Link Up For Pink

Link Up For Pink is a blog that promotes breast cancer awareness.  As she states in her blog, just about everyone has known someone with breast cancer.  My sister works with a woman who has been fighting breast cancer and is currently on the winning side.  Breast cancer is a very scary thing.  Cancer effects not only the person but also the whole family.  Link Up For Pink wants to help spread the word to do self exams and be screened on a regular basis.  There is also a link where you can make donations to help further the research and get a cure for this awful disease.

They are offering this blog candy to help get more awareness to there blog.  They have challenges every month for you to share you work.  Please go over and help support them.  Thank you.
