CRAFTING WHEN WE CAN WITH DIES/PUNCHES

Has it been two weeks already?  Time just flies by!  Here we are with another fabulous challenge at

CRAFTING WHEN WE CAN

Our challenge is to use dies/punches.  This time we are sponsored by

KENNY K

 Kenny K

Those of you who know me know that I have a real hard time with boy cards.  I was blessed with two beautiful girls and am divorced so no guys are around here.  I have two nephews but they live so far away I don't really know them very well.  So to channel a boy is kind of hard for me.  So I hope you enjoy this card.

I was given the image "Ryder Cole".  He looks to be cool kid!  I was really stuck on what to do so I asked my very talented sister Rebecca what she thought.  She had the idea for all the circles. So all the paper came from my scraps.  It's nice to use these things up.  When thinking of how to color him I thought I would use my daughter's school colors ~ green and gold.  He was colored with Copic and Whisper Strokes markers.  (You know I love some sparkle but there is no sparkle here because he's a guy.)  The circles were done with an EK Success 1" circle punch.

My card is for my great-nephew who just turned two.  He's such a cute little guy!

I hope you will join us in the challenge this fortnight and don't forget to check out all the wonderful creations at CRAFTING WHEN WE CAN!

THANK YOU HAZEL!

Recently I spent the weekend with my cousin Hazel and her daughter Candy.  I hadn't seen Hazel since my mom passed away.  I hadn't seen Candy since we were kids (and I'm not saying how long ago that was).  Growing up Hazel was a babysitter to me and my siblings.  She met and then married my cousin Danny.  She has always been such a dear friend to our family and I believe one of my mom's favorite nieces.  She loved her so much.

We went to a scrap thing in Akron, OH that I can't remember the name of.  My sister and I have been going each year and this year Hazel and Candy got to join us.  They stayed in a hotel that was a refurbished Quaker Oats Mill.  The hotel was filled with so many cogs and wheels.  Here are pictures of my daughter at one of the walls in the lobby:

Hazel told me how much she loves this stuff so I decided to make her a steam-punk card.  She brought us so many pictures of our family and then added to my Copic Markers.  She is just so sweet.  She definitely needs a thank you card.

I was so sick over that weekend and even gave my sister my cold.  This would also be the reason for a lack of recent activity.  This one really knocked me for a loop and I'm just now starting to feel better.  Don't you just hate those types of colds.

This image is from Sassy Studio Designs and I colored her with Copic, Whisper Strokes and a metallic gold pen.  There is so much going on in the image that I decided to go with plain papers so I used Kraft and a generic black.  The sketch I chose is from

I added ribbon from C&G then punched it with a Martha Stewart border punch.  The sentiment is my own and the gear is from 7 Gypsies.

I really hope she likes it.  Hopefully this summer my sister and I will get to go visit them up in Michigan.
